Hi all
My first pen posted here...and my first completed kitless. About 4 days, on and off, and a few learning opportunities (not mistakes!) on the way...
Hope to make some more kitless pens soon!

I'm pleased with it but know it has faults - hopefully the next one will be an improvement on this.

Cheers

Nice one, just one constructive bit of feedback. A pink pen against a red background loses picture definition. I have had similar feedback myself with pictures and I can see why. Grumps will love this pen, when he gets here.

A gallant effort for your first kitless and extremely well carried out.
Poor choice of colour and material but that's only my opinion.
Keep em coming init?

Thanks all
Grumps - I had intended it to be red but clearly didn't add enough colouring. I'm a teacher and a red pen appealed to me to make marking more enjoyable...

The taps were 12 x .8mm triple thread for the cap to body and 9 x .75 for the section to the body. I used an 11.4mm drill for the cap as I happened to have one but it is a little loose. For the section to body I used an 8.2mm drill.

The nib holder was from Beaufort Inks and I got a tap from them as well. It recommended a 5.8mm drill bit and I had a very cheap 6mm drill bit that was conveniently just about 5.8mm..

I'll consider my background colour more carefully next time!

The nice thing about kitless is I didn't have to worry about my barrels being a perfect match for the diameters of the hardware. I feel a hook sinking a bit deeper into me...

Cheers

Stewart
