Nice pen. You could always do a diamond knurl or even a straight knurl but best done on a metal lathe and even better done with a scissor-type rather than a single point tool

Derek, I have both a wood and metal lathe.
I thought about a full knurl and maybe cut out 1/4'' wide rings.
I might give that a try.
