An Alpha from this morning's session down the shed, dressed in Wenge with a CA finish.

First time i've used this wood & i'm pleasantly surprised, there's a wonderful colour change under the CA finish from the dark brown to a golden shimmer which i'm struggling to capture in the photos, but in the hand its amazing.

i really like that, much more so than the bocote. There is just something about bocote that is not to my taste.

flawless finish on both of them though. well done indeed!

Nice job. I've got some Wenge but it looks quite different, I'll have to see what it looks like turned.

I've turned a bit of wenge, never looked like that, much darker and closer grained. That does look nice, well done.

I have to agree with Tony above....you must have a very nice collection now....some cracking pens there.
I have turned some white wenge and dark wenge...mine seemed very open in the grain with hard and soft grain very much like Damascus steel and a bugger to finish so i am very impressed with yours:drool:

Lovely pen Billy

I've just been given two six foot off cuts of Wenge, hope they turn out as nicely as yours.

A brilliant Artisan here in Canberra bought several cubic metres of Wenge for special railings and furniture for our Parliament house every year he used to sell his offcuts from his workshop so I used a lot of it some figure is amazing, hard as timber takes a magic finish you achieved this Billy.
