I've had a great time in the shed. Three pens made although the laquer on one is still drying so photos later. this is another Wych Elm. I've filled the holes with brass dust and finished as normal with my pens with CA.

Ummm, I think both the pens I've just posted look better in the hand for some reason or other. The Brass doesn't look quite so good here and the other shows some black that looks reasonably good on the pen but not in the photo.

Hopefully this shows the pen off a bit better.

Paul,

Happy that you did separate pictures of the pen much easier to observe this timber and your treatment of the problem areas. I also agree so many pens look better in the hand spent some time in examination supervision years ago and wondered where the pens got to with strange clutching holds predominating, heads nearly on the desk incredible pressure in the fingers more like a destruction derby for pens. No small wonder there is a market for all shapes and sizes, kits and colours. I tremble at the fate of new users of fountain pens use of nibs that are relatively fragile.

That said your pen has a future in safe hands.

Kind regards Peter.

Well spotted Woody, I hadn't noticed that. I'm not sure where it came from but I did notice that the bushes were very tight and was wondering if they'd changed the size again but I did manage to get them in with a bit of persuasion.
