Morning mate one explanation can be would you think I would ever try to duplicate my wife or any of our children treating things this way it makes us appreciate the individual inner and outer beauty deeply respecting nature produced this timber exactly this way only once creating heirloom material.

Love that timber and the way you brought all that character out of it. Great stuff vSteve.

Kind regards Peter.

With nothing to go on other than it is reddy brown, it could be one of over 50, Pau Rosa, Bubinga, Muninga, Senegal Rosewood, Pallisander, Columbian Rosewood?, but probably not padauk as there is some evidence of a grain pattern.

have to admit that i am slightly upset that it is splitting..i knew it would tbh
it was just a practice piece to try and learn some skills as i am new to woodturning
i was surprised at the grain once turned
it is cold as marble due to water content

i need to find something similar to make a similar "pair"
