With pen blanks not giving tons of shavings is it OK to use shavings from a different type of wood?

In other words If I am doing an oak pen can I mix the shavings with walnut or beach when burnishing?

As Geoff said, a pinch is all you need. Personally I would only use shavings from the piece I've just turned. The danger is that if you use shavings from a different wood, they might be harder and scratch the piece you want to burnish.

Wot they said

I’ve always used the same wood and I seem to have plenty of shavings too, I scoop them up at the beginning when there are more and put them in a container on the side to use later, and empty it at the end ready for next time…
