THE PHOENIX
The ship was the star of numerous TV and Big Screen movies. It was built in Denmark in 1929 and began her working life as evangelical Missionary Schooner,20 years later she retired from missionary work and carried cargo until her engine room caught fire.In 1987 a first aid over – haul enabled her to sail back to the UK where a complete refit was carried out. In 1991 the Tall Ship Phoenix was converted to the Santa Maria for the film “ 1492 Conquest of Paradise “ and many other Films and TV programs . In 1996 there was increasing demand for a period square riggers for films etc. The Oak pen is made from the rear mast/cross trees. Very Rare and Unique.

Glen,

Unusual to have oak as the spars on a tall ship, they were normally spruce on account of the weight and flexing to absorb wind gusts.
