I don’t believe it...........

I took a leave of absence from these pages for a couple of years whilst I undertook a wife replacement programme, and on resuming correspondence on this and other similar pages have become increasingly dismayed at the alarming amount of complete and utter Bollocks that is written by some people on, in particular, farcebook, about matters associated with wood. Today’s crap was someone selling some blanks that were quite clearly Utile, being sold as something quite dissimilar for in excess of two quid a blank, and somebody flogging two red mallee blanks claiming them to be stabilised for over twenty quid.

For gods sake, you can’t stabilise any wood above a density of around 650 kg a cube, you can’t do it. Red mallee is 1050 kg a cube, why would you even want to try?

A real victor meldrew moment but the level of ignorance over our core materials I find deeply perturbing.

Back to playing carpet bowls.

Probably better than pocket billiards Neil. I just received some world beaters from the horses mouth so to speak included with some mouth watering so called offcuts of world standard of even tighter,3rd heaviest Gidgee. There is a firm I deal with over here still 2.00 a blank in famous aussie wood. Most important choosing dealers wisely.

Peter.

Mellowed? Huh, just warming up! No, had to go back to the real world to pay for a divorce. Apparently the volume of drying wood around the marital property can constitute unreasonable behaviour? Ha ha ha:funny:. Now firmly established with a new lady who not only appreciates the need to make a mess but is happy and willing to help me sell at the shows so life is good. Got a bigger workshop out of the deal as well! When this pandemic is over will be returning to the shows gradually but probably not full time, it was a lot of hard work for variable gain.

No way!!!!!!Unreasonable behaviour should be the questioning of drying wood!

Anyway don't get me started on facebook stuff. I'm surprised you haven't seen the turn Yew and die posts, ( as it's highly toxic) and the must wear a face shield brigade as every thing I put on the lathe jumps off and Hits me in the face morons! Then you have the ones who mark the points where the shrapnel hit the walls.
Where did stuff flying off the lathe originate? I've had stuff come off and I've taught people who have had stuff come off but nothing has come off and gone up since Newton invented gravity!

Yup, shocking, yew, perilously dangerous, laburnum, wow, a real nasty one, it’s poisonous. What a load of bo*****s, if it’s not food don’t eat it, if it’s not air, don’t breathe it. You’d wash your hands before you picked your nose or went to the loo (gentlemen) if your hands are covered in Chilli powder, I’d recommend you do the same if you are covered in cocobolo or padauk dust (been there done that before anyone asks! Bloody hell it itches!!!
