Press into the tube. Use both tubes but only glue the top one, turn the transmission from the bottom will do the job.
Drill the bottom of the blank at 7.2 mm lets it turn easily.
Nice work, another lovely looking one piece.

Lovely Angelo, your making the one piece lovely and if you do as Brian says, then the clip won't spin.

To make this pen you glue in the upper tube.
Press the tip and tranny into the lower tube.
Push lower assembly thru the oversize hole and into the upper tube
and twist the tip to operate.
We're all agreed on this.
Now, press the cap with the pocket clip into the upper tube.
Even though it's pressed in fairly tight, the pocket clip will eventually
turn, scoring an unsightly ring into the wood. this is what I'm truing to prevent.
Are you saying to glue in the cap and clip?
If so, never use CA, it gasses thru and eats up the plating.
Maybe use 5min epoxy, and try to keep it clean??

I think that when you're pushing the button in on top of the clip its pushing the tube down because there isn't another tube to stop it. When I make pens like this I put a spare tube inside so that the top tube doesn't get pushed down.

The glued in upper tube is not moving at all. Plus, Iplace a spare tube in the
lower end when putting the pen together.
It's just that even when operating the pen you have a tendency to push on the side of the
pocket clip causing it to spin.
I already broke the lower end of a finished blank while pressing in the cap and clip.

Then you must have ill fitting parts Chinese kits maybe?
I have been making these for years and never had that problem, nor have I had ca eat up the plating.

Couldn't quite understand your problem at first but I have just looked at the first ever pen that I made ( a slimline) that I have used every day for the last 7 months and yes the clip does move . I would think that a blob of epoxy on the end cap and clip at the point of assembly would have eliminate the problem before it had had the chance to start. Simples .

Plus, another lovely pen Angelo keep 'em coming

A lovely, well finished pen Angelo, very nice indeed. :bwink:

I have used a small amount of CA many times in this area over the years and never had an issue? :winking:
