Yesterday I get a phone call from my Uncle, "I have some wood for you are you interested" am I interested silly question I thinks. Anyway he turns up today with this little pile. The wood on the right is Walnut not sure It has a strong smell like ABW rather than british but then I could be totally wrong and is 3" square the slabs they are laying on are 18" square. Other wood I can identify are Oak, Tulip wood, Beech and one piece I am not sure but looks a bit like Elm. Turns out that his son (my cousin) works in a woodworking shop preparing wood into things like skirting boards and other bits and pieces.

The wood is darker than what the photo,s show

And before anyone says it I know that I need to weed between the slabs

It's always nice to receive phone calls like that Derek.
You're going to have to reconnect with your cousin. Think of all the nice wood you could get

I admit freely to an aquasition problem and thereby hangs a tale. Over time it becomes a monster. Neat for your cousin to be in the box seat to give out freebies mate.

Peter.

Sorting through my wood pile and some of what I received in the pile above I thought was walnut I may be wrong as it is more like a member of the rosewood family. I will have to clean some up and post some close up photo's soon for your expert opinion.
