Hi Brian,
A piece I am still working on. The sun shone this morning so I dashed out and photographed it :winking:
It is about 320mm by 200mm and when I have carved it I will use the Pyrography machine on it and the some watercolour paint (hopefully)
Getting the different depths was a problem as you have to be quite methodical but I managed somehow :nooidea:

A great start Don looking forward to the rest of the carveing. I have got one of her books and she is very good at carving and pyrography.

Like you Don I find it hard to draw freehand detailed however my dearly beloved does it with ease you have inspired me to get her to do some art work in black line work for me to carve something for her to colour along the lines of a miniature at first. Stimulated by the daily Antiques road show as well.

Your carving is now under way and looking great.

That's really nice work Don, love it.

I'm not personally a fan of painted carvings as I feel they might just as well be clay or pottery and I prefer the wood to show but pyrography for feathers etc enhances the piece.
Looking forward to seeing the end result.

I have a couple of her books. One project I have on the go at the moment is a Pyrographed chess board which I just started.
She is very good.
