Found this lovely turned wood lamp holder today on outdoor CarBoot in minus 2 degrees ha ha

Will make a few pens and cufflinks..But what wood is it..I am going with Walnut burl

It's a beauty, I would fill the voids with brass and keep it

Walter is probably correct, a pic in daylight could make it easier

Has it got a makers name on it? You could get in touch and ask him:whistling: While you're at it, you could point out that you can still see the sanding marks on it, which presumably is why you were able to buy it so cheap.:devil:

I'm going with elm too, but it's quite orange looking. I'm not sure if that is the lighting or the wood colour. You could try to take a photo of the inside if you can. That might give a truer colour if the outside is faded.
