Hmmmm.


I have just tried the Axminster Evolution Series Quick Change Pen Centre on mandrels from Turners Retreat (Evolution9), Penn State Industries and Planet/Rotur as well as Axminster's own mandrel and it fits all of these with no problem. I also tried it on a brand new Rotur mandrel shaft just in case any of my mandrel shafts were worn and it fits that perfectly too. I somehow don't think it is Axminster's tolerances that are the problem and drilling out a perfectly good centre so that it fits an oversize shaft seems like a bad idea to me. But that is just my opinion, you drill away, it's your tool you are ruining.
