hello folks

these are not for everyone but they are what I have been making recently.

it started when I saw the images of fractal pyrography and so I tried to recreate the effect but with a bottle of ink and a straw!

I didn't manage to get the "look" of the pyrography but I do like the look I did get! so I have been experimenting since.

That is stunning and the type of design I like..
What type of ink have you used? I can work out you chase the ink droplets with the straw but how do you get the different shades?

Love these George. When applying the inks how do you stop them running along the grain or have you sealed the grain so it flows over it

I love the affect. Has the piece been top coated. This may sound like a silly question but did you use different size straws to get different effects?

thank you for your kind comments

yes George, these were done in layers. the first ones I made I just used black ink.

I use artists water based ink Tony and I can buy lots of different colours or water it down to get lighter shades.

Derek these were painted first with acrylics then sanded back to give a aged background, so the grain is filled to an point but i have tried it on bare wood and you do have to seal it first.

no Terry, not different straws just different amounts of air pressure and amounts of ink on the surface to move around.

Well, I've already praised this piece, but keep coming back for another look - it get more lovely each time! Everything is there, the background, the middle distance and the foreground. I've seen some of those beautiful Japanese fine art paintings, and this is on par with them. George, you are the Grand Master in this genre - do some more!!!

They are stunning George and while you may not have had the same effect of fractal pyrography, in my opinion you have come out with something better.
I'm sure everyone will see something different in the ink work, but what I see is heathland grasses
