This months competition entry, it had to be at least 70mm deep so I figured I’d try some segmenting as I have lots of 60mm thick off cuts of ash.

pleased to say I got 3rd place which I was happy with as it’s the first time I’ve tried segmenting on a bowl & it’s certainly been a learning curve.

Congratulations on 3rd place, a very nice bowl, unfortunately I wasn't able to be there to see it in the flesh.
Thanks, it was my first go at segmenting on a bowl another new learning curve so I was well pleased to get third particularly as there seemed more entries this month.

I like everything about this bowl. The overall shape is quite pleasing. The arched, flared rim shouts pick me up and hold me. The segmented feature ring is simple but gives a bold impression. I see no sanding scratches and your finish spot on. Your first segmented effort is promising. Can't wait for your next piece.
