Axeminister euro - is the longer part the upper or lower section?

Evening

A real newbie question. I have read the downloaded instructions, but I can't see which one of the two lengths is supposed to be the upper part? They just refer to the two as upper and lower, but one is longer etc.

(not only is one longer than the other, but I also noticed that one is shorter than the other... )

So does the nib go in the shorter or longer section please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi the longer tube goes on the top half of the pen and by the time you cut your tenon for the center band the two halves look closer to being the same size have fun

Thanks all

I made one as woody suggested, long side on top. It worked, so much more interesting than my slimlines to date.

Then I kindly read rowdy's instruction kit which had it opposite....

So I guess both work?

Take a guess
Lovely trio Woody & good to know they can be done either way depending on the kit, otherwise I`d have been making them upside down for years :nooidea::funny::funny:

If you want a really good quality round top pen then these are far better than the 7mm ones Round Top Euro Style Pen Kit I have made loads of these kits up and they are far superior to the 7mm they have 8mm tubes and use a Parker refill and the price isnt a lot more I have quite a few of them in my collection so if you want to see a photo of them let me know

Hi Paul,
Woody is right, some manufacturers use a standard 52mm tube for the short and then either a 55mm or 60 mm tube for the long one.

The only thing you have to watch out for is if you use the long tube for the nottom is you will have to press the mechanism in further than you would normally. (The refills only come in a standard length for some reason:face:)

Its always a god thing to measure your tubes from both ends, just in case one and of the tube is longer than the other.. :face:

Cheers woody, I've only tried slimlines and (my first) axeminister continental and certainly the extra wood feel of the top is so much better nicer IMHO. So yeah the extra mm must be much better. A photo would be great once you have the chance. Thank you.

Ahh that makes sense - many thanks

Ah yeah I worked that out. The problem I had was one of the tubes in the packet was wider than it was long. But I solved that by twisting it 180 degrees.
