Quaint names for these places we watch a fair bit of telly and find it interesting guessing at the reasons for names on these I give up. Where my family lived an relative uncle served an apprenticeship as a school teacher in The BackofFisherrow Free Ragged Church School I have a copy of his indenture this in the 1840,s. I went there once looked in Millerhill where the family of mine all worked down the mine there. Fortunately they emigrated to Australia with heaps of family rels etc and to the USA . Life in the mines was pretty basic. All the hype I thought came down to an easter village one end and wester village the other a few pubs and the mine later a train terminous. So cold in late spring I was glad of the open coal fire in a pub to help thaw my frozen hands.
Count my lucky stars for their fortitude and gutsy move establishing a heady base for living I now treasure. My Irish mob suffered so badly in the famines they too moved to the same areas in South Australia by Emmigration. Their restless spirit and courage gave me a head start in principles to live by guess I will be counted as weird eventually providing on a sole basis for me and seven others for so long.
Oh well it is Christmas time for reflection.
Best of everything Peter.
