Hi, guys,

Turned a stick of azalea for the first time today. A beautiful blank which turned into a lovely-grained Euro. Seems to be a hard wood which turned well, and takes a nice shine. Grits to 600, a wipe of white spirit to pop the grain, a wipe of BLO and when dried, two coats of Hut's Chrystal Polish.
Never knew azalea grew hard enough for woodworkers to use, and I can't see anyone on ebay, etc. who stocks it.

Come on in, Woody - this blank was among those load of other blanks you sold me, so maybe you can remember where you got it from?

Regards to all,

Bob.

Bob,

Your great treatment with the grain paid huge dividends out in front finish by a country mile is the timber Afzelia I have some with similar grain one awaits in the long line of pens to do.

Improving health may allow me more time in the shed typical of every other year just when the weather picks up we get a cold snap and snow in the hills.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:
