My first attempt at a bandsaw box. Interesting to have a go at, I need a bit of practice though.89F2A7A1-0A49-42DF-A943-F8C344E1BBB3.jpg

A good first Keith but the square outer does not go with the curves of the draws but that is down to personal taste.

A little tip that I use is I have some thin ply which I cut into narrow strips and stick two to each draw bottom going from front to back like runners cutting them just short at the fromt so they are not seen. These runners lift the draw slightly to centralise it in the box. As you can see from the front of this one I made

That looks a very good first attempt. I would be very happy with that.

Thanks for that Derek mate, I’ll bear in mind the plywood runners that’s a good tip.
What size blade do you use in the bandsaw? I’ve been using a 3/16ths but I’m struggling to set my axminster saw up to suit it. I can’t get the rear roller close enough to the back of the blade so it’s not getting the proper support. I’m going to try moving the blade back a touch on the wheels, that might sort it.

I used a 1/4" blade which I found just right for this type of work I also have an Axminster bandsaw, If I remember correctly did not have any problems setting it up with that blade

This was part of a set that I made for a previous Christmas present

All Bandsaws are among the most versatile of tools, thanks for the examples shown and the discussion they provoked.

Derek is being very naughty we all remember his output from another forum and it hasn't changed in quality . (from bandsaw boxes to half track toys for his grandson who he adores)

For a first attempt I think it is commendable. It is not a simple task by any means

Mostly the important thing to remember is that once having finished cutting and doing the unfinished final assembly before gluing, is to remove by final sanding or filing all traces of the saw blade ...EVERYWHERE including all those places that you think the customer will never see, not to mention Derek's hidden 'uplift'
