In the standard 6" mantle clock I use inserts about 70mm but not the type that are held in by a rubber band I prefer the inserts with three spring steel retainers on the 8" clocks I use the 100mm inserts so as you can see the insert is about half the size of the bandstand here are another few designs of different clocks the last two have watch inserts

Woody glad the question was asked great variety in your response to the Mackay. Grandstanding it is seems also you have a lot of clocks right twice a day it would be bewildering to have so many running side by side. The alternate designs suit the mechanisms the recent enquiry where do you get the clock parts you well know. I am a great user of Quartz ticking clocks have no place in our home a Grandma gave us a chiming striking Mantle Clock as a wedding present that served a long time in a cupboard what with six live clocks abounding all hrs the sleep time became very precious. Love them both the timber and shapes.

I made this clock some time ago.I made my own drawings up. About 240mm high, the base is about 120mm diameter and it is a 50mm clock insert. Hope this helps.

What a fantastic variety, I have had clock inserts for over 15months and they are still in the box, I will try and make time soon:bwink:

I love the way you have it hanging, that's the first time I have seen one like that, great clock, Don.
