Lovely looking pen Ivor. With regards to the photography well there's another question. My photography skills are second to none as many on the Forum will vouch. I do not really know where to start in giving you the information ! First of all you must include in the picture as many of your household goods that is possible. Try to take photos in as many different rooms as possible to give forum members an insight to how you live. Good backgrounds include carpets and toilet seats. Keep the lighting as low as possible and never take photos in natural daylight it's too much effort to go outside, as Grump often said to me get off your ar*se and take them outside. Too much effort that mate when you can get a beautiful background indoors such as your living room or stair carpet.
As you no doubt have already realised I am absolutely shi*e at taking pics. There are some great people on here who will help you out. I am being mentored by a forum member at the moment and hopefully will soon be producing some better quality pics.

Finish is superglue with micro thingy wax.

I have only just started with the CA finish, have been using sealer, friction polish and wax previously.
Could not get the hang of CA until I tried it with thin glue.
now use ordinary CA, slow lathe speed (400), two drops on paper, quick wipe and repeat about 8 times.
i did get quite good at sticking paper onto the blanks.

Bit confusing with the photos , Terry said to go outside and find a shady spot ?
It all shady at the moment and blowing a gale and raining.
I think i will have to go with Vic s tips this time.
Regards
Ivor

It's a lovely Pen Ivor:thumbs:it would help your photos to crop them before you post them, if you look at mine I crop quite closely as it is the pen you are trying to show and not the surroundings, I crop 800 x 200-350 pixels depending on the shot, that the first step, get that right and then the next step is easier.

A lovely looking pen there Ivor, it's all been said about the pics really.
To recap and put it all in one place:
Find the best light look at the shot for shadows, focus and hold the camera steady as you can.
Use a tripod if you have one or rest it on a book or some sort of support, use the timer function if you can get hands clear.
Take a horizontal pic on a plain background and crop close then edit and resize to 800 wide.
