SWMBO wants to have a go at caning. Only problem is that you get very little clay for your money as far as I can see. Has anyone got a recommendation for where to buy the stuff cheaply?

If your wife wants to just practice the techniques then I would suggest using Plasticine so she can get the hang of rolling and compacting, my only tip would be to keep it in the fridge as it acts much more like Fimo if it is cold, loads of vids on Youtube

I got my first supply from Hobby Craft but far too expensive. I got my next supplies off eBay. I use Fimo Clay.

Be aware that when the Mrs Bakes it to get the temperature and times right. Someone on here cremated his first efforts !
