Hello folks, I was wondering where the best place to shop for pen kits , blanks , bushings etc. I currently shop at Axminster.co.uk but I have found their prices slowly creeping up? Just wondering if there is any better alternatives.

Thank you as always

Cost effective or cheap.....

There has been many a debate on kit quality on this forum, but remember you only get what you pay for.

It is right that Dan does some good kits at the right price platform..However when you start looking around you will notice allot of kits out there with low and high prices.

That said low prices usually means low quality, but high prices doesn't mean high quality.

There are many kit suppliers in the UK just providing entry level cheap import kits. That said they have there place in the UK market. Just not mine..

It was seen that Dayacom was the standard to reach at one time of day, but that has changed and there are so many now exceeding the Dayacom standard.Dan has proved this with the first few kits that he has launched. Credit to him.

However the USA market does have some better quality kits than we do in the UK, just some of the design's coming out of psi currently are questionable.

Over time you will learn the markets and understand what "cost effective" really means. Have a look at the review section you will see some pen kits there.

If you need any advice there will always be someone on here that will offer you that. So ask away.

All metalurgists run for the hills when asked to examine pen kits surgically, this pen forum like others fly by the seat of their pants ie most of us. All purchases live by the buyer beware principle.

When you choose a Surgeon you are wise if you find a friendly theatre nurse who knows to help make that decision. Every retailer of pen kits makes a commitment to a wholesaler or provider incurring an immediate outlay for stock.

So many wholesalers also send to the general public providing no protection for their dealers.

We all love a "bargain or look for a discount" a favourite ploy with some business houses is to have sales all sales special discounts are there for a reason.

You and me we are at the end of the food chain and the general public who buy from us are people like us. In plating quality grows on trees. Enjoy or prosper in pens is your choice and mine. About to head for the bank gotta have.
