I think the issue is not with the quality of the kit but that many people (me included) find it a bit over the top in terms of "bling".

David's "lipstick on a pig" comment simply suggests that Toni's exquisite blanks are wasted on such a kit and would be better gracing something more tasteful. Perhaps it is an expression that has not found its way across the Atlantic.
