I really like makeing these, the difficulty is in getting the case's. I tube up two blanks and turn to fit inside the cases, groove and glue in, trim square and fit the kit. These are .500 nitro express cases, but I have now also .600 & .700 cases seriously big casesIMG_20200706_175621.jpgIMG_20200706_175646.jpg

Hi Dave, a quick liquid polish then a couple of coats of melamine finish.....I have tried others and they tarnish too quickly, Melamine seems to last a really long time.

I suppose you could write 'elephant' with them!! Who on earth has bullets that big in the UK anymore??

You would be surprised!!
A good friend who is a licensed Firearms dealer was asked to deal with a death disposal, the woman said he should dispose of her late husband's shotguns, when he opened them they were rifled!! He then had to try to explain to her what she actually had.....in the end and 5k later my colleague had a .360 Rigby and .470 NE complete with a Tesco's carrier bag of ammunition.....I got to shoot the .470....just to say I had.....:pray:
There is no practical use for these guns now days but they do still exist and surface once in a while I don't think there are even many approved ranges you could even use one on:rolling:

.50 caliber is still shot in the UK. Another popular caliber is .338 Lapua. There is a range in Scotland that you can hire that goes out to 2 miles you can also hire a .50 caliber rifle to shoot if you wish. The ammunition is mouth-wateringly expensive at about £7.00 a bang. I have a bucket load of .50 caliber once-fired cases. I shoot lots of Military calibers .303 Lee Enfield for instance as well as .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor on a regular basis out to 600 yards. Another expensive hobby.:whistling:

That is very impressive Mark, well done with that. I must admit all this talk of bullets, shells and cases looses me, I know nothing.

You're not on your own there fella. All I have shot is .762 and 9mm in the Army but I have chucked a couple of Mills grenades.

Cheers

I too know nothing about anything to do with guns and bullets. I did have an air rifle as a kid but had it confiscated for shooting Kevin Rainsford in the leg. (Trust me, you would have shot him too).

Lovely pens though Mark. Good job.

Cheers Ash
