Kevin, you really don't need to have any spare other than to meet the fittings, if you had 1" blanks you will be using your time to get rid of lots of resin unless you are going to shape it. I don't know where you can get that blank in 1" sorry.

Hi All

I've been asked to turn a Jr Gents on this blank

Red & Black Swirl Acrylic Pen Blank 3/4" x 3/4" x 5"

it's only 3/4" which is big enough but there's not much to spare, does any one know where I can get a 1" blank

Regards

Kevin

Kevin,

Some blocks of resin TR used to buy in blocks and cut down themselves. I had an order for a lurid pink , none on the shelves and David said that he would cut me some so off he went and came back with a half metre stick of the stuff. Worth giving them a call and seeing if thats the case with this resin, I'd be interested to know.

You can get 25mm pen blanks at http://www.ukpenkits.com/Pen-Blanks/Pen-Blanks-25mm-diameter but there is not as much choice but they are nice you can also get them in 20mm.

But as others have said for a Jr Gent 20mm is ok, you will only be spending time turning away all that extra plastic. As long as your drilled hole is central (at both ends of the blank) you will be fine.

Remember that you are likely to have in places less than 2mm of wall on your finished acrylic pen & on some acrylics they become translucent & you may see the brass tube, so you may need to paint the tube first.

That's the size blank I use every time for the Gents..

No issues.

However if you need a bigger blank then merv at ukpenkits should be able to hell you out.
