Hi all,

First of all i will wish a very happy and wonderfull new year to everybody on this forum.

I was ask by a friend of mine for a special bowl, i found this piece of wood in my wood stock and give it a try.
Here's what cames from the lathe... finished with Lemon oil from Chestnut, width 260 mm height 135 mm

Looks good to me, question though, if it's finished with Oil then won't it continue to dry out over time? If that happens whats to stop the bark falling off? Would be good to know for anything like this I do myself.
I made some slices for my daughters wedding a few years ago, before I had the wood lathe so cut the slices by hand & then surfaced on the CNC, she wanted them to look natural but I was worried about the bark falling off before the wedding so they got a few coats of matte varnish in the hope that would keep them together, have a few of them left & those are still all intact & I thought it was because of the varnish finish but maybe it isn't lol

I do'nt think the bark will falling of ( i hope so ) this piece of wood was cut about 7 years ago, it's super dry and very hard. I made one bowl with the other half 2 years ago and the bark is still there.
