I've just purchased a collet chuck for doing some small turnings and tried it out by turning a pen with it just for a bit of fun. For the nib and ink I used the bits out of an old biro. The paints are metallic acrylics, borrowed from my wife's mountain of arty crafty stuff.

Clever pen George would make an ideal captive pen with notebook. Around my place with all the crafty stuff thats made all the time by my wife I can see this as a way to go. All the women in my church family get beautiful cards for every birthday for years now with embossing machines etc. I am impressed by the possibilities.

Peter.

Original pen ! Nice shape
But, what is a biro :thinks:

Hi Clement, a biro was one of the first mass produced ballpoint pens and they are still going today. They were so popular that people referred to all ballpoint pens as biros, even the ones made by other companies.
here is a picture of one. bic.jpg

Erm actually the biro is the pen invented by and named after Laszlo Bíró (1900–85), the Hungarian inventor...... BIC is merely the name of the company which licensed the pens afterwards by Marcel Bic (Bich).

But all of you pen makers should know this as part of your trade.... if you don't you are making and selling without a knowledge of your craft :goesred:
