Had a fantastic week at Blind Veterans UK teaching just a few turning skills and seeing the look of absolute joy and pride on their faces was worth far more than any payment no matter how big just seeing their confidence grow from day to day magic pure magic

Woody,
I noticed that this was over a year ago. But I applaud you.
I keep getting told off for little things that I do wrong like having the tool rest out to far away from what I am turning and then turning the machine off and stopping it turning a minute later with my hand. Keep getting told off that I could lose a finger..
So I can't understand how a blind person can cope with all the safety features that goes with our hobby.......

sadly common sense isn’t common !

We all, as you say take calculated risks every day. When teaching you teach the totally safe way ie stop lathe before moving toon rest ( like we all do …..? sometimes ) . One of the most interesting things I saw recently was Chris , “ the blind wood turner “ using an airbrush at Newark show! Did a better job with it than I can do !

keep up the good work sharing the joy

I think that you deserve a trophy for all your work.
However I can't figure out how to get a trophy emoji up???
