Ever taken a job you knew you shouldn't? I don't usually but this large farmhouse kitchen was planned for a full re-furb a year ago and she's changed her mind umpteen times since then so what was originally a complete new kitchen became a "change doors / keep corian worktops" to "can you remodel some of the cupboards, remove some of the worktop and repolish them, make some new wallcupboards and a seat and she's going to have them all handpainted. (stupid woman!!!) :nooidea:

Had to re-work 23 year old grubby battered doors and blend in some new to match. Didn't take photos 'cos I'm not happy with it but she's delighted and it's paid well so I guess if it keeps her happy:whistling:

Definitely not one for my portfolio though. Crap photos as well from my 'phone!

Sounds frustrating, but I am jealous of your carpentry abilities being a desk jockey myself.

The result of the kitchen might not be up to your liking Bob but there is no doubting your skills in carpentry.

Yep, I'm not a happy chappie but this lady is a very long standing customer and a friend who's convinced the kitchen will look great when it's painted. I'm not so sure.

In fairness the corian worktop and sink has polished up beautifully and it would have cost £9000 to change just that. The cupboard carcases weren't too bad but the doors were bloody awful and the old saying you can'tmake a silk purse from a sow's ear is definitely the case here.

I had to strip down old doors to make drawers and add bits on here and there and even cut some in half to create angled doors. The new wall cupboard is part new / part old and I had to make it look old and the dimensions aren't right as it isn't "balanced" but it's exactly what she asked for. Even the bench is a compromise:rant:

I've made some lovely kitchens and quite a lot of furniture in the past but this has been a first (and last) for me.:nonono:

Stupid thing is that money isn't the issue as she's loaded. It's cost her £6000 including some work to the floor and I could have had Vinyl wrap doors made to measure and fitted for less whilst the paint will deteriorate very quickly IMO.

WOMEN :nooidea: Just got to love em:funny:
