This was stabilized and dyed by a buddy of mine Jeremiah Hix. Trying to get an ID on the species of wood he used.

Great pen and blank I am no fan of the dusky kit. Looks like BEB timber. Great to run through various effects and designs. This one is not for me trust you enjoy it.

I too thought Buckeye but the blue dye could be deceiving, nice blank whatever the wood.
Don't like the dirty looking kit, not for me at all.
