Bock Section Applied

I used blue ebonite (with slight black grain lines) for the barrel and cap of this pen. The trim is done with black ebonite, and the white rings were credit cards in their last lives. (It was actually my secretary’s AARP card, though I am certain that she is far too young for membership.) The inlaid pearl end dots were ones I made years ago from shell I rendered down, no doubt taking years off my life in the process. This pen features a black Bock #5 nib and a black Bock section. I had been anxious to try one of the sections – it was a fun alternative to my usual ebonite section design. Comments and criticisms (except for my photography) are welcomed.

Pen of the week contender Greg the pics are ok as well. When you angle them steeply you invite focus problems but I see them a clear and easy to read and see. Well done.

Thanks, gents. Sadly, the time keeping the table covered for shows cuts sharply into the time I can spend on things of this sort. (And maybe if I plan for the Christmas show season a little better in the upcoming year, I won't have to stop the "fun stuff" for three months!) Thanks again for the nice thoughts.

I just welcomed a new member on another forum ("the other forum") who was from Edmonton and then noticed that Alberta is your home as well. My son married a Nova Scotia girl (we are two hours south of Buffalo, NY, but he attended college in Toronto) and they are spending Christmas in Millet, AB, north of you about an hour or so. The world grows ever smaller.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know. As was pointed out by another gentleman, the sharp angles of the pose start to mess with the focus. Add to this the fact that I took the pix with my phone. Given the circumstances, I'll take the ribbing for the poor photos - your kind words about the pen entitle you to a shot or two! Thanks!

I have been the one on here to say that "Picture quality" doesn't matter one bit, provided we can see the item being displayed Greg.

Your pictures I would be proud of so my "pictures aint bad" statement was an English mickey take on the fact that you didn't want anyone to comment on them.. The fact that your pictures are very good is an understatement my friend..

But then the pen does your pictures justice..:wink:

I actually agree with your thoughts on photos...until it comes to my own and then it does matter to me. (I really was not happy with the picture quality but I had already torn down the light box and got it off my wife's dining room table under threat of torture and death.) After going to all of the trouble of trying to make pen as nice as I am able, it somehow seems a shame to represent it poorly to folks. The worst of it is that I have a decent camera, but I am too damned lazy to learn how to use it well and continue to break out my phone. This time, I am going to cut myself a little slack and accept the photos as they are - I am happy with the pen and I guess that was the point of this whole exercise! Thanks again. Already plotting for the next one.
