A long time colleague of mine plays in an Irish Band and has ‘inherited’ a Bodhran which he is determined to learn to play. He asked me to make him a tipper, sometimes called a beater, so he can have a go. This is the first attempt made from oak. If I’ve got the shape and size something like then a better one will be made out of mahogany or maybe even Blackwood.
