Hi Glen, I brought some Irish Bog Oak pen blanks a while back. They cost me an arm and a leg and like you I was not that impressed with the finished items. I sold them eventually but have never bothered with any more.

You'll have no problem selling bog oak Glen. Just tell them its from a tree that was living 5000 years before Jesus was born. That always does the trick.

Like you Glen cant see what all the fuss is about may just as well get an ordinary bit of Oak and ebonize it with vinegar and wire wool
That said mate it is well turned and finished and it will sell especially if you print of a little cert saying what it is how old it is who its made by I'm sure you get the picture

Agree with Keith on this one Glen. History always sells. And it's a well turned pen in it's own right.

Another pen nailed Glen an experience to remember I have found there are timbers and others I like and since this is what I do my choice is made the same as you have finding out what to like or not.

There is no magic wand but I feel you will find a home for this pen the journey is important.

I haven't turned bog oak although I think I have some. As other's have said I think it is the history and age of the BO that helps it to sell.

You've done a great job of turning that, it's a pen that should sell, no problem:thumbs:
