Bolt action pen fail

Hi All, First timer, I just put together 2 sweet bolt action pens, but after assembling them the tip of the pen just barely comes out of the pen. As these are like the 4th and 5th pens I have turned I have not had this issue before. Is there a trick to getting these to work correctly? Or did I do something wrong?

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin

The 'bolt' action pens are kinda as simple as it gets.... (even easier than an easy thing) so for you to make any mistake twice seems improbable.

So providing they are fully pressed together, my first guess is that either the refills are not the correct length, or maybe the incorrect length tubes have been supplied.

Hello Kevin and welcome to the mad house. I haven't made one of those pens yet so I can't comment. But plenty have and will.

A picture tells a thousand words....post a quick pic and we should be able to point you in the right direction....but TBH it's normally the tip protruding more where people over trim the blank:whistling:

Hi Kevin and welcome to the Forum. I have done loads and loads of bolt action pens and never had this problem. If the nib of the pen is not coming out sufficiently the only thing in my mind that it can be is either the parts are not pressed together or the tube for the body is not the right one.

Perhaps they still have the bit of plastic/wax on the tip of the refill and won't fit through the nib.
