I had to look twice at the blank as i could have sworn it was a resin until i read the description, very well done Rowdy, and a good choice of wood to match the kit ... :bwink:

I am not a fan of those kits but that does look exceedingly good, that blank really sets it off better than an imitation camouflage.
Very nicely done.

What is English Yew Catspaw?
Is the bolt different on the Mk2?:nooidea:

I brought the blanks off of a fellow member 'lignaterrae' (dave) He sells it as English Yew (Catspaw Figure) Taxus Baccata. I just had the luck and picked a good blank, he has a very good selection. I have added link to his list...:winking:

The bolt difference, apparently on the Mk2 it is shorter. (Timberbits):winking:

Hope this answers your questions.

Catspaw yew is an occasional variation on regular yew. It consists of small burr patches scattered across aboard, looking rather like the footprints of a cat that has walked across the plank - bit like your car bonnet in the morning! Blanks cut through a patch of the 'pawprint' look dramatic, especially if the paler sapwood near the edge of the boards can be included as well. It's very wasteful of all the 'clear' material you have to cut away but plain yew is everywhere anyway.
Got quite a bit more of it by the way if any of you guys want some.
Beautiful job, Rowdy.

Rowdy, and thanks Dave for your explanation of the timber.

I have seen innumerable Cartridge pens yours is the outstanding one., I know the bling is beautiful as well but the timber is individually perfect for this pen, congratulations on your choices and execution in turning, seeing, finishing.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred::thumbs:
