I heard somewhere that you all like pictures. So as a follow up to https://www.penturners.co.uk/index.php?threads/what-can-be-done-with-holly.27181/

The request was for something that would work for my friend's grandfather's favorite Christmas song The Holly and the Ivy.

The segments were from the leftover bit of acryllic called Green Kirinite Ice. Between the elaborate but monochromatic botanical pen kit and the creamy white holly I thought it needed a touch of color. The pic doesn't show it well but there is a bit of white in the green, which the recipient thought would reflect the bits of white in the center of an ivy plant well.

This is the 2nd go around as the first is where I learned just how much holly shows bushing metal. :/

I went with CA for the finish on this one for the hardness, along with the fact my non-CA efforts have been pretty hit or miss so far. And this one... I don't know what went differently but I'm not happy with how it came out as well.

There will actually be a 3rd one made as I must have trimmed the barrel a wee too much - the ink sticks out about a half mil from the nib. (Solved temporarily by shaving a mil off of the ink itself). Ideally a different finish on that one as well.

Yep we love pics.... and that's a lovely example of what can be done and the green highlights make the holly stand out better in my opinion.

That's really nice and again I like the green flashes it needed something to lift the Holly and that works well👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
