Evening all,

I have a design problem and i would love your knowledgeable input and advice!

A good friend of mine had asked me to think about how he could display a bottle of his cider/perry in the bars he currently supplies.

He's only small and just starting out so only sucks a handful of pubs.

His main seller is a cider called 'the angry wasp'.

I came up with the concept below, and would love to hear your thoughts.

Not his bottle, tight bugger hasn't sent me one yet[emoji35][emoji35]

The Apple is oak and the pear is beech, base is chestnut.

In the final design i'd probably look to use apple, pear and a some more bark on the natural edge, but happy to hear your ideas too!

He asked about incorporating a wasps nest, but I'm struggling with that, as wasps nests are ugly things, so any thoughts on a wasps nest?

There are many angry wasp comic images on google for your entertainment and possible ideas.
I suggest that if you want to pursue the nest idea you could fashion something fro a corn cob or Banksia nut, / pine cones.
I suggest black and yellow woods.
I suggest a wasp with boxing gloves trying to knock the top off the bottle.
Stupid ain't eye?
I'll get my coat.

Is the bar likely to allow him to take up shelf space?

I do like the concept, and you could include a pen in Apple or cherry, for the bar owner if he "allows" the display....

Any good at carving. How about a carved wasp hanging onto the bottle neck and the sting part curling down to the bottom of the bottle as though to sting it. Ok maybe turn some of the body

Gav,

How's about this. Get one attractive slice of wood, around 18mm plus, and mount to the rear a hanging system. Get hold of one of his bottles and send to totesadore.com mount clock to front of piece and insert corny phrase such as angry wasp, every bottle with a sting in the tail.

Thank you all, some great ideas to look into.

Just to clarify, the bottle that will end up on there will be either cider or perry.

The pubs/clubs have allowed my mate some space, I think what I've got may be the limit, but he's checking for me.

I'll see if he's got any quirky mottoes he wants to use and incorporate!
