Yes but only for the base tidy up. Bought second hand made bby Vic Marc. I use an old vacuum cleaner for the suction. The trick is to leave the vacuum on after the lathe is stopped. Price determined by methods of holding and vacuum used.

Never used one always wondered what if you get a power cut when using one not only that its much cheaper to use the tail stock and a wad of tissue paper to tidy up the bottom of a bowl

I've used a vacuum chuck for quite a few years now & wouldn't be without mine, so easy to use. As to cost you can google & compare types & cost. I ve had mine too long to give an up to date costing. I made my own at first & it worked well. Google this as will & look at YouTube for how to make if this is the route you want to go. The two types of vacuum generators are Venturi which works off a compressor to give vacuum. The other type is a vacuum pump, of which there are several versions, oil filled or oilers.
Hope this is of help.
