If that is natural, its probably the nicest piece of wood I've ever seen. Absolutely lovely anyway, a gorgeous pen.

That is truly amazing, I would never have guessed that was its natural colour !

Apart from the end result being the usual "peter" quality and design of course.

Is it me or do I just not see anyone else putting coves into pens as Peter does ? :thinks:

Paul I do have dyed changed timber but I always say if it is this timber when cut weighs like Balsa wood so some treatment is necessary to hold it together,ie heaps of CA or impregnated with clear as this blank was. SWMBO and I refer to the staff in beauty salons and chemist shops as painted ladies part of their employment this blank is not painted or changed with make up or stains it naturally is beautiful. I have some spaulted, some red streaked one guy I new in the states harvested a whole tree of the red streaked one time made a literal fortune from it got greedy and was hounded out of the business. I once sent him 20 or so Aussie Stunners at his request for a swap he never reciprocated, that was when I learned to be cautious.

Kind regards Peter.
