14.6 mm at the top of the cartridge to 15 mm wide at the belt, 180 mm long cartridge without a bullet, no making on the top face. As you said a substantial thumper. Thus ended my knowledge of ammo.

That 577 might be worth a lot Peter for the reloaders of the old Henry Martini's (577/450) I know the amo is expensive in the uk and the reloaders have resorted to fettling brass shotgun shells.
