The light wood is Sycamore, The Dark wood in the middle is Elm, And if anyone can tell me what the other wood is I would be thankful as I have a pile of it and no idea what it is

the unknown wood is horrid to work ... it tears and splinters all the time

Can't help with the wood though, looks like 'summat' wood.

Nice box.

If the wood splinters as badly as some of the sapele / mahogany that I have, it's horrible stuff to work with. Be careful of the splinters you get in your hands, I found it difficult to get them out cleanly:sob:
