Brass dust

I turned this out of a bit of beech and it looked a bit bland so having just used a bit of dye to bring the grain out on another pen I used it on this one as well and it made it look awful. I then dyed it black but that also looked awful so I applied ca while spinning and applied brass dust. I did this several times until I got the desired effect and this is it. I like it but it was an awful long process.

Ive heard of Fairy Dust Paul mate that brass stuff scooted around a bit on the top but overall changed this pen sure does not look like Beech any more. Well done determination defies defeat.

I like it mate, I bet it looks real cool in the hand.
I would have given up and striped it back to brass if I DIDN'T LIKE IT IN FIRST INSTANCE.
More power to your elbow for persevering with it init?

Nice effect Paul. Have you ever tried gold Plasticote on a black ground? Gives a similar outcome but I don't know about its relience on a pen. You'd probably need to apply another finish over the top of it

I haven't heard of plasticote before Phil, I'll have to look it up. :thumbs:
