I passed on the kit tubes and used some of my stock brass tubes with extra thickness on the walls, 10mm for the barrel and 8mm for the finial.

Barrel tube 27mm longer than the original and swapped the hats on the rollerball with the Parker type.

Turned an ally mandrel to fit through both sections and spun it as one piece between centers to get my shape and size.


Drilled a 13mm hole in the lid while still on the mandrel and shoved an old tie pin in for a crown.

The only Polaris parts used are the nib / clip sections and the transmission, may help someone who fancies a play.


The Polaris finial is two parts and can be separated by drilling a hole in a block of wood and knocking the top out from the inside, the ring makes a goodly belt for a fat slimline init?


Top
