Thanks Woody, only 3 bits of wood initially but a reasonably time consuming project.

Currently I'm trying to make one with aluminium segmentation... the first attempt fell to bits but I won't give up yet.

Paul,

I tried this once and failed miserably, I admire your patience, the end result is well worth it. With 22 rings in the lower tube, that makes them about 2mm thick - what did you use to cut them this thin?

I just used the band saw. I made a jig so that I got them all the same thickness and used ca glue to glue it all together so that it wouln't fall to bits. One down side is all the superglue I've breathed in and have just had to buy a respirator so that I can carry on... should have done it first really and I wouldn't have got moaned at quite so much when I couldn't breath at nights. 3m versiflo... very nice bit of kit

Love it, very nice indeed, and as said, much patience needed to do this work ... :bwink:
