An invester that Jim speaks about is actually converting the Hz (frequency) of the electrical supply and not the voltage.


Usually we run at 50Hz in the Uk t 240 volts. The one that Jim is using will usually change the frequency from 0 to 60 Hz


But the voltage will stay the same. They are a better way of controlling the speed of motors.


You can over speed a motor giving it 60Hz but if you reduce the Hz too far then you will need to supply some cooling for the motor as it may overheat.

Up date, remember as a guide that 2 pole single phase motor runs at 3000 RPM, 4 pole motor runs at 1500. (1450 to be exact:face:)
