Bullet cartridge pens

I am new to this forum, my name is Svein Viland and I am located in Norway.
My aim is to find the required parts for making pens from bullet cartridges, and in particular .50 cal (12.7mm).
Is there anybody in this group that can recommend the required parts (except the cartridge) and where to obtain?

It was [MENTION=626]flexi[/MENTION] that gave me the information I passed on to you yesterday in your email to me. He's a member here and may be along later to help you out.

The drawing you are showing is the instructions for a kit made by Penn State Industries in the USA. But it's perfectly possible to make a bullet pen without a kit, and there are several people here who are pretty expert at it. There is also a tutorial by [MENTION=677]Les ELm[/MENTION] in the tutorials section in the menu at the top of the page.

Welcome Svein I make .308 bullet pens using genuine bullet parts, if you follow the tutorial by Les Elm it is easy the only difference is to prepare the bullet you need to drill lnto the tip approx 12mm deep using a 2mm drill bit,then turn the bullet round and drill into the base using a 4mm drill bit untill the refill fits through enough to write with, apart from this Les sets it out pefectly, and he tends to use american sizes which can be confusing hence me giving mm sizes, almost forgot you need to drill out the cases through the primer pockets to 7mm, if you need any help please feel free to pm me my pens below apart from bullet parts you will need a slimline kit using 7mm tubes

Welcome aboard.....I make the odd one or two bullet pens As I said to Phil, what you need would be.....
A case and bullet head,
A 7mm kit and some glue.
Yes you can also use a cigar kit same principle.
Drill out the bullet to take the nib (at the front) and a tube at the back......insert your twist mech, as you would a slimline kit. Next you need to glue the second tube into the case to locate the bullet and allow you to twist the bullet to advance the refill. At present I am experimenting with filling the case with epoxy resin to allow me to drill for a more secure tube fitting.
It's a similar process if you use a cigar kit just different dimensions. I have also used this process with .500 Nitro and .300 Holland &Holland, if you want any further help please feel free to message or ask.

I can’t help Svein but in my opinion the best looking bullets to use are the silver tipped ones. I think Les Elm on here uses them in his cartridge pens. I think they look better than the plain copper ones.

Can you post a picture of yours again Les if you see this? :wink:
