I recently commented on a thread saying I would like to see a bullet pen being made and put together.

Within a few days I had 4 cases, 3 bullets and two slimline kits sitting on my doormat to try out and nothing was wanted in exchange.

I am blown away by the generosity of forum member Mark (Flexi). Big thanks Mark.

All projects made with these cases will go to charity.

I bet I get told off for making the case nice and shiny.

Love watching your videos Paul. Great looking pen, made for a great cause. I would also like to mention Mark (Flexi), I have benefited from him in the past. He's a great guy that contributes a lot to the forum and makes some outstanding pens.

Thanks Les

A question for you and Mark or anybody that works with Brass.
Do you guys sometimes coat the brass case and if so what with?

Regards,
Paul.

Paul,

To finish the brass casing and copper bullet to avoid tarnishing, I polish and clean with AUTOSOL metal polish and wipe the brass down with Lacquer Thinner.
Apply 4 coats of Sherwin-Willams Opex Clear Acrylic Metal Lacquer mixed 50/50 with Lacquer Thinner.
I use the my dipping method by plugging the bullet nib hole with Bee’s Wax, install a piece of tight fitting dowel into the 7mm primer hole and dip into a container of the the mixture and hanger vertically to dry.

Hi Les,
Thank you for that info.

I will use your technique but with a product called Mylards. Sherwin doesn't seem readily available here in UK.

Once it arrives I will report back.
