I wanted to make a bullet pen with threaded slimline kit as the 8mm tube is a much better fit at the nib end. Well its not that easy and the nib on this kit is too big for the end of the case... fail no1. I then didn't push the top tube far enough through the end so it would screw on... Fail no 2. Then trying to force it in further because of a slight gap at the clip end, I split the wood fail... no3. This is my first attempt at not having a join in the wood and I'm very happy with that so some good has come out of it but I need to have another go with a standard slimline. Using a nickel coated case also had a few problems because you can't make any mistakes cutting it as it will go straight through to the brass and I had to turn the wood separately instead of using the case as a bush which I do with the brass ones.

At least today I've learned something

Thanks Brian... Brass bushes it is. I tennon the wood but use a bit of acrylic at the nib to get it thin enough to fit.

Unfortunately or fortunately the photo doesn't show the split in the wood but you can see the oversized nib. I would sort the clip end out if it wasn't for the other two problems. I think that if done with the tips Brian gave me it will be a cracking pen.
