George this pen is very special, hard to see at its best with the intense colour background, nevertheless beautiful.

Nice work George, does the pyrography affect the finish?

Hi Keith, no it doesn't. I sand as normal before pyrography but miss out the sanding sealer because I'm not sure what fumes would developed when I burn the wood. When I have finished the burning process I give it a touch with some 600 grit then give a wipe with myths to get rid of any carbon deposited that would darken the non burnt wood then I apply the ca. I ca as normal, but planing to go to melamine in the near future.

Nice work ! Needs a lot of time i suppose

Hi Clement, I guess the pyrowork on that design would be less than 2 hours. I say guess because I have carpal tunnel syndrome which means after about 15 minutes I have to stop because of the pins and needles sensation in my fingers. So I do it in short sessions. I will have to have the op one day but not in the mood for it at the minute.

It's a beauty Peter

I did some pyrography on a dip-pen that I'd finished with melamine - worked a treat!
